Effect of Leaf Extracts of Lantana Camara L. on Germination and Growth of Some Crops Species

Allelopathy is a biotic interaction between plants where one plant inhibits the germination and growth of other by releasing certain allelochemicals. In this research we evaluated allelopathic effect aqueous leaf extract Lantana camara on four crop plants. The experiment was conducted in sterilized petri dishes Botany lab Saptagandaki Multiple Campus, Bharatpur, Chitwan, Nepal. different concentrations extracts studied compared with control. results revealed that seedling all species were significantly inhibited at as to lowest percentage found Brassica campestris Oryza sativa respectively least Triticum aestivum 10% concentration. percentages, and, biomass observed reduce, increasing concentration extracts. study concluded allelochemicals have adverse effects germination, dry matter accumulation tested crops.
